Could it be possible that they do have abs. Abs helps but it aint perfect. And even if you barely tap the brakes it can start you sliding and once that happens it is kinda hard to stop.

with ABS you need a longer way to stop! the best thing is to push the clutch or change in N so you have more strength to direct your car away of the other cars. if u down so u can shift in a low gear and then try to brake.
