FDR helped lead us out from our darkest time in this country (other than the Civil War). Some sacrifices had to be made. It was, after all, THE GREAT DEPRESSION. I don't think you realize how tumultuous a time this was in our country. This was a time when child labor laws had not yet been fully set in our country, there was a TON of political activism going on among the American people to say the least. They were fed up of sitting in breadlines and soup kitchens for scraps...and rightly so.

FDR also had no choice but to usher in "The New Deal" due to civilian uprising, and unrest that resulted as backlash from the Great Depression. You are right, he's not the complete hero that everyone paints him to be, but he is one of the main figures responsible for the biggest positive changes for the people that took place in America. I agree with all your points, except for possibly the one about the forcing of Japan to attack us. There are complexities there that are still unresolved.

Not only is most of what you wrote here totally insane, if you had actually read "War is a Racket" you would know that Butler foiled a coup attempt by bankers and industrialists against FDR (the Business Plot) in 1934.

Actually, you know what's really insufferable? Going on YouTube to watch a clip on the 2008 Election and seeing the entire comment block taken up by someone who writes (or copy/pastes) a long diatribe that consists of the painfully obvious (OMG presidents are supported by bankers!), bizarre assertions (The British Queen holds suzereinty over the U.S.!), and a laundry list of things to Google.
